Music Behind The Story with Twyla Turner

Greetings and Salutations!!! I'm excited to introduce to you a new author friend today who has a great heart, a kick-ass attitude, and a fantastic sense of humor. BUT FIRST!

THE BOYS ARE BACK! Reese and Toby will be re-released on 8/1 and they'll both be in Kindle Unlimited for the first time! Here's what readers have to say about the Forces of Nature Series:

Hurricane Reese: "R.L. Merrill's Hurricane Reese blew in and captured my attention full force. I was only at Chapter 2 when I was moved to tears by Jude's plight. Merrill, with an economy of words, managed to capture the precarious nature of life in the current economy. We are all so close and living on the edge and we don't even know it.

The dialogue is so good in this piece that I found myself reading along and nodding my head in agreement. The characters were real. Their emotions were easily discernible. The characters' descriptions were so vivid that I truly had a mental picture of the key players.

Finally, the humor that was infused throughout the storyline made it impossible for the story to sink into a maudlin read. The characters' genuine love, whether filial, erotic or simple friendship was ever present. Reese's obsessive desire to protect and care for his loved ones with the full force of his personality and means was admirable.

I am so glad that I read this book. It will stay with me. I look forward to this author's future works." Tracy on Amazon

Typhoon Toby: "This highly emotional romance pulls readers in and refuses to let them go. The story proceeds at a steady pace as the strong, captivating characters come to life and endear themselves to the readers. This story has readers experiencing the ups and downs of a whole gauntlet of emotions, including tears and laughter, alongside the characters as Toby and Spencer struggle to move forward with their relationship while standing by their friends and juggling their careers." I hope you'll check out the books. They both have new teasers and these covers are just giving me life right now!

And now, without further ado... Please welcome Twyla to the Rock 'n' Romance Blog!

My name is Twyla Turner and I write Interracial BBW Erotic Romance. My most recent novel Rock the Curves centers around…music. I realized that I hadn’t written a Rockstar Romance, so I wanted to tackle the subgenre since I do love to read them. And I had a blast. I even wrote lyrics to three original songs. Mind you, I can’t create a melody to save my life. But writing lyrics was a lot of fun. Maybe one day, someone will be willing to put a tune to them.

Gage Walker, the hero of the book, is mixed with Caucasian American and Brazilian. And his music is a combination of the two. He mixes rock with Brazilian rhythms. His songs are sexy and edgy, like some of my favorite songs over the years. ‘Closer’ by Nine Inch Nails comes to mind, and actually inspired Gage’s sound in my mind.

And I imagine Gage’s voice being similar to the late, Chris Cornell. That sexy, gravelly soulful voice that sends shivers down your spine and goosebumps across your skin.

Music sets the mood for just about everything. Movies, TV shows, a romantic dinner, a party, sexy times with your partner, etc. Why not for books too? Especially Erotic Romances.

Imagining or literally listening to those sexy rhythms and pulsing beats to a hot sex scene is the icing on top.

Now, if only I could pull my sexy heroes straight from my books, I’d be in business.

I was born in Joliet, Illinois and was almost immediately enamored with all things entertainment and yearned for something "more". I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating a whole world from my mind. But it was a long winding road to self-publishing my first novel Star-Struck. An interest in science and animals, to wanting to be the next Oprah, majoring in radio/television with a minor in creative writing, to a year in Japan, four years in California and then to Arizona where a trip to spiritual Sedona awakened something in me and the need to write finally hit me like a brick wall. And once I started, the ideas flooded my brain like I never dreamed possible. My love of romance and travel, as well as my struggle with body image and the male species combined into wanting to write romance for 'real' women. I have 13 full-length novels to date and 2 novellas and my dark romance trilogy The Damaged Souls Series was a 2015 Amazon Bestseller. I have become known as a champion for the underdog and I'm only just getting started.

Be sure to check out Twyla's Facebook page where you can follow along with her new looks and tutorials! I keep telling her she needs to write a story about a disguise expert, so we'll see!

In other Rock 'n' Romance news, be sure to check out my latest Ro's Recs over on HorrorAddicts.net. This week I share the best End of the World songs (it's not really the end of the world, but the music is great) complete with a playlist. Also, if you want to pick up Pinups and Puppies for FREE as well as other F/F reads, Queeromance Ink has a newsletter special that ends tomorrow!

I hope you survived your July. I am headed back to work teaching in a new virtual academy this year, my son will also be in the virtual academy, and my daughter will be taking online courses from her college remotely. The Merrill house will be packed to the gills with learning and love and hopefully we don't drive my husband nuts in the process! Take care of yourselves, read some great books, and listen to some awesome music...Most importantly...Stay Tuned for more Rock 'n' Romance...
