Some Stories Just Won’t Die: A Zombie Book’s History of Survival by H.E. Roulo

In 2009, the serialized podcast of H.E. Roulo’s novel Fractured Horizon was a Finalist for the 2009 Parsec Award for Best Speculative Fiction Story (novel). Looking for new challenges, Heather wrote the script for an audio drama called “The Killer with Eyes of Ice” for Necropolis Studio Productions, best known for their Parsec Finalist audio drama Age of the Zombies. The voices were recorded but production stalled.

But some stories just won’t die.

Inspired by the audio drama, Heather wrote the short story “The Killer with Eyes of Ice” for the Live and Let Undead anthology, released in 2011 from Library of the Living Dead Press.

Then, like any good zombie, the audio drama from Necropolis Studio Productions revived and released in 2015 (http://necropolisstudioprod.com/orc.html). Inspired by the interest in her sci-fi zombie story, Heather expanded the universe created in the audio drama and short story into a full-length novel, Plague Master: Sanctuary Dome. The novel had immediate success and released in 2015.

The story continues to grow. Plague Master: Sanctuary Dome is the first book of the Plague Master series. Next up in the planned trilogy is Plague Master: Rebel Infection, available now.

When Samantha’s brother goes missing, the trail leads to Julius Cerberon, the rich philanthropist who built a dome for sufferers of mankind’s newest disease. Can she really accuse the universe’s greatest humanitarian of murder?

Meanwhile, on a downtrodden planet, Trevor has the unenviable job of zombie bait. He saves his dream girl, but she is infected. Her goodbye kiss forces him to escape to the domed utopia where infected are quarantined until they change--but he will never change, isn't infected, and has to keep kissing the girl to pass the tests. Not a bad deal, until the dome breaks and a planet-worth of zombies invade.

And his girl could change any minute now.

PLAGUE MASTER: REBEL INFECTION blurb-

Trevor's return from the zombie infection makes him unique. It also makes him dangerous.

Trevor is a hero on his homeworld, celebrated for finding a vaccine against the zombie virus, but the ruling Founders don't trust him and his low origins. When the revolution comes, Trevor is caught in the middle.

Despite his homeworld's troubles, a message from a Plague Master forces Trevor to seek reinforcements. He hunts for Kristin, the woman he left behind, and an answer to why the vaccine is failing.

He and his friends must fight on space stations and worlds overtaken with infected to discover the terrible truth about his cure.

Read the exciting sequel to Plague Master: Sanctuary Dome.

Best of luck, Heather! I for one am terrified of zombies so this book will definitely scare the pants off me. Yes, you all know I love horror and things that go bump in the night, but I have to draw the line at loving zombies. It only took one episode of The Walking Dead to give me nightmares. The horse...the sounds...the being trapped and dying slowly while being eaten alive...but I digress. Sure, I love zombie flicks, in fact one of my favorite flicks this year was The Dead Don't Die starring Bill Murray, Chloe Sevigny, and Adam Driver, I LOVED Warm Bodies, and The Crazies is an all-time favorite. How about you? Post in the comments your thoughts on zombies and a random commenter can win a copy of H.E. Roulo's book!

Remember...Friday is the big day! I'll actually be in Orlando with my fellow Dreamspinners (I can't WAIT) but that newsletter will go out and give you a super creepy and fun read for your weekend! Sound good? Subscribe today!

And Stay Tuned for more Rock 'n' Romance...
