Friendy Friday - The Truth Is Here!

Greetings Rock 'n' Rollers! I know many of you are fans of sci-fi and the unknown, but how many of you were curious about the raid on Area 51?

I love all the conspiracy theories, personally, and it's fascinating to wonder about what's out there. I read an article this week that Blink182/Angels and Airwaves's Tom Delonge's mission to get the government to admit there are truly U.F.O.s had a breakthrough when the Navy confirmed that videos Tom had posted were real. I love it that Tom's passion for this project got some validation! Rocker vs. The Man in real life played out in the news and the Rocker won!

Today's guests were also intrigued by the Area 51 Raid phenomenon. As of this morning, it looks like the curious folks actually showed up in Rachel, Nevada and I'll be checking out the news reports in between cheering for all of the folks participating in #ClimateStrike rallies all over the world. It's kind of an exciting day! So without further ado, here is Harley Easton and Co. with The Truth...as they see it!

About the Anthology

In July of 2019, author Terri A. Wilson contacted other authors with a simple idea. “I think it would be fun to create an Area 51 anthology and release it around the time of the big invasion. Maybe a charity anthology- all genres. Any interest?”

The idea caught fire among her writer's community, with writers she knew sharing the idea with writers they knew. In the end, 47 authors of all different genres agreed to try their hardest to craft a story that honored Terri’s few stipulations.

Stories didn’t have to include aliens, but they needed to incorporate Area 51

Stories had to be professionally edited

Stories had to be submitted on a tight deadline so they could be professionally assembled and formatted

All proceeds from the book would go to the United States veterans foundation selected by the group.

*Due to legal reasons we cannot directly name the foundation in any book marketing.

In the end, over twenty authors submitted stories to the anthology.

“I am so blown away by the response to this antho.” Wilson said. “The energy is overwhelming.”

Ebook and print versions will be available September 20, 2019 to coincide with the original date of Alienstock and Area 51 Bootcamp, the two major events planned for the Area 51 raid.

Book Blurb:

What’s in Area 51? Is the government hiding aliens? Elvis? Maybe the set of the Apollo moon landing? Do you know? We do. Join this multi-genre group as they explore the hidden recesses of Area 51 which up until now have only been whispered conspiracies. Don’t bother with the raid. Stay home, read these awesome stories and learn all you need to know. The truth is just a page-flip away.

From my good pal Harley Easton:

In the Air Tonight

What do you write, primarily?

I write romance, erotica, and speculative - which usually means fairy-tale takeoff or paranormal elements for me. I tend to blend genres. This story was a little speculative and a little contemporary romance.

In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about.

Marshall’s life has been in a weird sort of limbo since he fell apart and left Chicago a few years ago. When a stranger walks into his gas station looking eerily like someone he once loved, Marshall finds himself on an unexpected road trip to Area 51. But when the oddities start to stack up, Marshall realizes this stranger isn’t all that she seems.

Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story?

I really jumped at the chance to work with Terri Wilson on a writing project. I’ve also been interested in the strange and unusual since I was young. I was the kid obsessed with the X-files and listening to Coast to Coast with Art Bell on AM radio. There’s a bit of a nod to that in my story.

Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural?

Not with aliens but for sure with the supernatural. There have been a few instances where I’ve had really weird experiences and was told after the fact that the location was rumored to be haunted. I wrote a post for Love Romance Reads last year about my family’s personal ghosts. That post can be found here: https://www.loveromancereads.com/blog/the-comfort-of-family-haunts-by-harley-easton

And here is more from some of the other authors in the anthology:

Chrys Fey:

1. What genre do you write in mostly? I write romantic-suspense but also urban fantasy, which is the genre for my entry in the anthology - Detective Heavenborn.

2 In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. - Who is Detective Heavenborn, and what's inside the package she has to retrieve from Area 51?

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story? Why not this anthology? ;) Aliens may creep me out, but a character that I have been writing about for about seventeen years is believed to be an alien by the people in her world (not our world). If you guess this character to be Detective Heavenborn, you'd be right!. I am working on publishing her books, but this story will introduce you to her.

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural? With aliens, no. With the supernatural, yes. I believe I've experienced ghosts and even dark entities/energy. Now, that is some scary stuff! I also have had dream premonitions and intuitive thoughts that have come true.

Beverly Ovalle

1. What genre do you write in mostly? - Romance

2. In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. Pavolok is from a different world and has been tasked with rounding up new colonists during the Area 51 Raid. Amy joined the raid for the heck of it only to find herself transported to a spaceship that really doesn’t live up to her expectations. The pair find themselves unexpectedly drawn together, and they aren’t willing to give each other up.

Longer Blurb : The Road to Eden - The civilization of Jannat Adn was slowly dying. Unable to procreate they searched the galaxy looking for compatible civilizations. They find one. It’s Earth. Not only are earthlings compatible, but gene markers show a common ancestor…Pavolok is amazed at how different life on Earth is. Tasked with safely bringing aboard colonists, the Storm Area 51 Raid is the perfect opportunity to round them up. When the US Military tests a weapon on their own citizens, he steps in to save them. What he doesn’t expect is his body’s reaction to one of the human women. Her purple hair and violet eyes draw him instantly to her.

Amy joined the raid for the heck of it, along with her siblings. Naruto running and clapping cheeks appeals to her sense of humor. It’s not that she believes in aliens, just why miss the chance if they really are there? Transported to a spaceship that really doesn’t live up to her expectations, she can’t seem to keep her hands off Pavolok.

Amy hadn’t planned on having an alien in her life, but once she clapped him, she’s not willing to give him up.

Why this anthology? I wish I could join the raid but can't, so I just used a bit of my imagination as to what might happen and took it from there. I’m also a US Navy veteran.

CM Peters

Cargo

1.What genre do you write in mostly? Romance and fantasy

2 In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. After a deadly crash, one of the only remaining soldiers must protect their cargo at all costs. Could Area 51 be the right hiding place?

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story? It's not usually in my wheelhouse to write about this type of thing and I wanted to try something new.

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural? I've worked on a haunted island. I do not recommend!

Valerie Puri

1.What genre do you write in mostly? I write Paranormal, Fantasy, and Young Adult stories.

2 In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. "Burner Phone"

Jimmy signed up for the Area 51 raid as a joke, but soon his pursuit for the truth intensifies. He teams up with a like-minded individual and together, they infiltrate Area 51. Jimmy not only finds himself in the middle of a UFO crash site, but a conspiracy that goes deeper than he ever imagined.

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story?

I've always been curious about Area 51 and why it's so well known yet top secret at the same time. The place is an oxymoron. When I heard about the Area 51 raid, it made me wonder what if it really happened? That one thought was my inspiration for my story "Burner Phone." When I learned that Terri A. Wilson was putting together an anthology to celebrate the raid, I jumped on the opportunity to take part and submit my story.

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural?

I'm happy to say I've never had any experiences with aliens. However, that's not the case for the supernatural. I've had my fair share of ghostly encounters.

Sherry Rentschler

1.What genre do you write in mostly? Mostly PNR/Urban Fantasy

2. Three sentences or less tell us what your story is about.

My story title is Mermurings (no that's not misspelled)

What if the secrets behind Area 51 are the conspiracy because the government has nothing to hide? I know the secret to Area 51 is a belief in a lie.

But the truth is there's magic at Area 51, and its dying.

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story? I know Terri Wilson personally and professionally. She has valuable experience (good and bad) with anthologies. I know Terri and how professional her work ethic is. I believed in her ability to put together an exceptional book plus it was timely and relevant to current events. I don't normally write sci-fi so this was a chance to cross genres with my own style. It gives me a chance to experiment/have some fun. As a retired USAF officer/veteran, I have always been intrigued by Project Blue book and alien possibilities

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural? Not aliens but I have seen a ghost up close and personal. They aren't like we imagine which is why I believe the alien visitors theory is possible.

Cheri L. Roman - Editor, Brass Rag Press

1.What genre do you write in mostly? Mostly fantasy, but I also write paranormal romance and sci-fi.

2 In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. Thomas and Dana travel to Rachel, Nevada after receiving an unexpected package. What they find there leads them to mount their own raid on Area 51, not to free aliens, but to save lives.

Longer Blurb - Thomas and Dana are planning their wedding when a mysterious package arrives from relatives Thomas thought long dead. To make matters stranger, the note attached hints that his loved ones are in danger. Arriving in Rachel, Nevada, the couple discovers that a missing magical artifact is the only thing that can save them, and it's hidden in the archives of Area 51. Getting in will be a challenge. Getting out alive may be impossible.

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story?

I am a military wife. I love fantasy and sci-fi, which made it attractive to begin with, but being able to contribute to something that was going to benefit veterans sealed the deal for me.

Dana, and Thomas are characters I created several years ago and it was their turn to come out and play. I'm really glad they did. Veterans have a special place in my heart because my husband is retired Navy. We have known, and still keep in touch with, some of the finest people ever to serve. I am happy to have this opportunity to give back to those who have given so much.

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural?

Other than the time I heard a ghost laughing in the bedroom at the end of the hall? Not a one.

The Worst of the Worst

What genre do you write in mostly? - Romance

In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about.- Trapped underground, one mile to Central Control, injured, and possibly meeting up with the United States’ deadliest serial killers escaped from their cells. Not exactly your typical day at Area 51. Nick was right; I should have stayed home

Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story?- I worked 4yrs in a maximum security prison, and wondered what if that was what Area 51 was. Then set about who would they house there. And decided on all the serial killers who suddenly disappeared mid-spree. Where did they go? Why did they stop killing? The military put them in Area 51, of course.

Annie Walls

What genre do you write in mostly? Dark Fantasy and Post-Apocalyptic Fiction

In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. After paying top dollar for her own desires, A-List actress Cassie Catlin uncovers the secret of Area 51 and she wants to expose it. Seek the answers and the risks in this Twilight Zone-inspired story, Lavish Lure.

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story? It’s not so much the conspiracy for me as it is the mystery… I took another route for my story.

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural? I WISH!

Arthur M. Doweyko

P'sall Senji - a story of first contact, wherein a nearly retired policeman must decide whether or not to kill the alien about to shake hands with the President. Possible second story - Brain Child - a lab in Area 51 has successfully grown human brain cells in culture and finds that the brain they created will not stop growing - a brain without sensory input becomes more than anyone could imagine.

Lori Joseph Taking Initiative

Blurb: Poor Hannah! Almost 30, alone in the world, and about to be evicted. But that all changes when she applies for a position with the US Government. Accepting a position with the GEDI proves to be the opportunity of a lifetime; a promise of a better future, friends, and the chance to earn some real money for the first time in her life.

The favorable circumstances Hannah has been handed comes with rules, unexpected processes, and a dominating authority figure. Will impulsive Hannah be able to comply and keep her lavish new life or will she be returned to her bleak existence?

Jennie L. Morris Galaxy Genetics Inc.

Blurb: Earth is a dead planet. Mankind colonized other planets and moons in the solar system. Galaxy Genetics Inc. sends out teams to collect rare DNA samples to use in their medical and bio-warfare research. Following an ancient rumor of a long dead species held at Area 51, Galaxy Genetics dispatches one of their top teams to investigate. The pair soon run into something intriguing and dangerous in the corroded science bunker beneath Area 51.

Tag Line: Something lurks deep within the bunkers of Area 51.

1. What genre do you write in mostly? Historical Fiction with a dash of romance thrown in for good measure. I enjoy all the research. My stories usually have sort of scientific element as well, as my background is in anatomy.

2 In three sentences or less, tell us what your story is about. - Earth is a dead planet, but humankind has populated the solar system. Workers at Galaxy Genetics Inc. search the system for rare DNA. A special team is sent to Area 51 on very old rumors of an extinct race of aliens being held there in the distant past.

3.Why this anthology? What is it about Area 51 that drew you to submit your story? I wanted to try something different, and who doesn’t love a good alien story. Area 51 is intriguing, and the premise wide-open, an idea popped right into my head. I had a lot of fun writing this story, outside my usual work, which was refreshing.

4. Do you have any personal experience with aliens and/or the supernatural? Maybe with the supernatural, I’ve seen shadow figures before, and felt creepy vibes at places. No contact with aliens, but I’ve met a few strange people.
