Friendy Friday with the hilarious Robyn Kelly

Every once in a while you meet your snark-mate. You know, that one person that you can always get in trouble with and who always gets your sarcasm perfectly. Robyn and I have shared many "award-winning" and "legendary" adventures and I'm happy to share Robyn's latest release as well as The World's Most Dangerous Interview, which almost made me spew Diet Coke through my nose when I read it!

Here's an excerpt from Best Laid Plans, Book One in the Best Laid series... heh heh

The elevator shudders to a stop at my floor—our floor (after all, he owns the building) and I reach for my keys. He takes them from my hand and opens the door. That’s the second time he’s taken keys out of my hand. He might think it’s gallant, but I find it annoying.

I walk past him through the door and turn on the light. “What did you leave here?”

Jackson is still standing in the hallway. “I left a frightened female.”

It’s embarrassing to remember my earlier behavior, and my irritation evaporates. I push the shame out of my mind. “I hope my landlord doesn’t find out about you leaving women in my apartment.” I look around. “I think she’s gone.”

“Then you should invite me in.”

When did he become so formal? “Are you a vampire?” Isn’t that what Minerva called him—an emotional vampire. “You can’t cross a threshold without an invitation?”

“What was it you said earlier? ‘If I open this door we are really going to do this.’ I need you to decide. Either invite me in or say good night. It’s your choice, Jillian.”

Part of me wishes he would just come in and kiss me senseless and then ravish me. That’s not his style. Still, I need to know a little more. “If I invite you in, what will happen?”

He raises his eyebrows and laughs, almost like a villain in an old James Bond film. “You want me to sell you on the idea of inviting me in?” His lips curl into a sensual smile as he crosses his arms and leans against the door frame. The pose suits him—he looks like an ad for sex. “The first thing I’ll do is close the door. And lock it. There is a frightened female lose in the building, and I don’t want her coming back into this apartment.”

“Unpredictable people can be scary, but so are experienced people to the beginner.”

He tilts his head back. “I understand now. What I want to do is explore. I want to explore your body, I want to explore what turns you on, and I want to explore what makes your eyes roll back in your head. I want to know what makes you whimper, what makes you moan, and what makes you shout my name. I’m not a rapist. You can say no to me. But ‘oh no’ means something else entirely.”

“You’re very persuasive, Jackson.”

“I must be. I’ve turned myself on. Invite me in, Jillian.”

Despite every nagging doubt and fear, I hold out my hand. “Won’t you come in, Jackson?”

Name a liquid you’ve shot out of your nose while laughing… bonus points for what made you laugh. Semen - because I love to laugh in bed. "You could suck a tennis ball through a garden hose"

What’s your favorite music to dance to? Swing

Name the first book you read as a young person with sexy times in it. How many times did you read it? Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught. I've lost count

What is the most fascinating thing you’ve discovered because of writing? That I still can't figure out when to use a damn comma.

Name a reading guilty pleasure Gentlemen Prefer Blondes by Anita Loos. The dumb blonde who is smarter than any man.

Which book boyfriend/girlfriend (wither one you’ve read or written) sets the standard for all heroes/heroines in your writing? OMG. Despite every attempt to sound terminally unique, I think it's Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice. Funny, my real life is more "Fun With Dick & Jane" because the Dicks are always running from me ("Run, Dick, run.")

Name a book that scared the bejeebers out of you and why it scared you. Anything by R.L. Merrill - because I'm scared I'll never write as well as she does. (See the snark? I love you Robyn!)

If you had to choose a movie or book to live in, what would it be? Peggy Sue Got Married - because I'd love to be my age but still look 18 years old to everyone.

Name your author superpower and how does it come out in your writing? The ability to write when I'm sober - the downside is that I can't blame the bad parts on alcohol.

Which book do you wish you’d written? 50 Shades of Grey - so I could meet Jamie Dorman (and roll in the moola!)
